Living with HIV

Since 1990, Central Illinois Friends has been committed to serving people who are living with or have been affected by HIV/AIDS.

Through the years, we have been committed to helping people meet their needs. Our services can help you to not only live with HIV, but to thrive.

Learn about what Central Illinois Friends can do for you!

If a person living with HIV is linked into care and regularly takes their medication, it is possible for them to obtain an undetectable status. This means they can no longer transmit the virus to their partner(s).

Although not all people living with HIV can achieve an undetectable status, their partners can take a medication called PrEP to prevent transmission.

You can get PrEP for you or your partner(s), completely free at our office.

Undetectable = Untransmittable

We want to make sure you get linked into care

Central Illinois Friends provides services for people living with HIV. We want to make sure you have access to and obtain the care/treatment you need to help overcome any barriers you may face along the way. Consider our health navigators, the-red-tape-cutters to help you obtain quality care.

Emergency Funding and Rental Assistance

If someone cannot keep their lights on, how can you expect them to prioritize medication? We provide rental assistance and emergency funding for folks living with HIV to make sure they are healthy, safe, and comfortable.

Transportation

If we want to make sure folks are reaching an undetectable status, we need to make sure they can get to their appointments. Transportation can be a huge barrier for many folks, but we want to make sure you get where you need to be.

A lack of reliable transportation should never keep someone from accessing healthcare.

Linkage to Care

We help folks living with HIV know all of the resources that are available to them and link them to care.

If you are newly diagnosed, recently moved to the area, or are just ready to seek care for your status, we will meet you where you are and help you achieve your health goals.

Knowledge Is Power

Stigma and fear can keep people from being tested, knowing their status, and accessing needed services. Don’t let misinformation, stereotyping, or a lack of understanding keep you from accessing the care you need!
